IPN on May 2 published an OP-ED article entitled “Visa liberalization for Moldova after 4 years: between fighting corruption and migration” written by political pundit Dionis Cenusa. The article says the rise in the number of trips made by Moldovans in the EU clearly shows that the integration into the European Union, on the one hand, acquires more substance, while on the other hand, the profile of beneficiary Moldovans diversifies. “The democratic processes in Poland started earlier than the Constitution of 1791. Our Parliament has existed since the end of the 15th century. During over 500 years, no law could take effect without the Parliament’s vote. So, there was democracy in Poland earlier too, but this was for the nobility only. It was a kind of nobility democracy, aristocratic democracy. Not everyone had political rights. Unlike other states in Western and Eastern Europe, we had yet very powerful representation. Other states witnessed absolutism, but we didn’t. We had a democratic system then already even if, I repeat, not for everyone, but for about 10% of society. The authorities will make sure that this autumn’s parliamentary elections are held in accordance with the democratic standards and are free and fair, Prime Minister Pavel Filip stated in a meeting with the President of the European Council Donald Tusk held on the sidelines of the meeting of the Moldova – EU – Association Council in Brussels. This July the National Integrity Authority will most probably have sufficient capacities to deal with the tax returns submitted by public functionaries, director of the Resource Center for Human Rights Sergiu Ostaf stated in a talk show, noting this is one of the conditions imposed by the EU for disbursing the macro-financial assistance. The Republic of Moldova didn’t do its homework in the relationship with the European Union. At least this is the impression given by Prime Minister Pavel Filip’s visit to Brussels, where this reported on the fulfillment of the conditions set by the EU for providing macro-financial assistance. Transparency International expert Veaceslav Negruta said the Moldovan delegation was transmitted a harsh message in Brussels – the reform agenda should be implemented and the reforms cannot be simulated as they must produce results.
