June 3: The Festival “Days of Chisinau in Buzau” was staged in Sărata-Monteoru village in Romania for the third consecutive year. On the first day of the festival, a performance on the stage in Sărata-Monteoru was given by Marcel Ștefăneț and Ethno Republic, Brio Sonores, Adriana Ochișanu, “Fetele din Botoșani” and Viorica Lupu. “High-quality music, extraordinary artists, people’s artists of the Republic of Moldova who presented their works at the fair, workshops, a parade with torches, a parade of national costumes and many other activities for grownups and children. We have all kinds of activities these days in Buzau, where we present our culture, traditions and customs,” the Chisinau City Hall stated.

June 7: The Tax Collection Division warns that the property tax can be paid by June 30, 2023. It already sent property tax notices to the citizens through postal services, IPN reports, with reference to the Chisinau City Hall. The holders of digital and/or mobile signatures can access the State Tax Service’s portal and choose the View Tax option based on the realty file and can generate by themselves a property tax notice, see the sum of the tax and print the notice on paper.

June 8: A Media Hub centering on the media education of young people was opened in the capital city. The young people there will be able to develop new skills in the media sector through training seminars, information sessions, informative and recreational programs and podcasts. Petru Grecu, director of the Municipal Youth Center, said that the Media Hub project was implemented in the framework of the 2022 Civil Budget program.

June 8: About 4,600 children have been enrolled in the first grade in Chisinau’s schools in the first enrollment phase. More than 3,700 of them are enrolled in Romanian classes. 5,070 places remain available for the second phase, says Mayor Ion Ceban.

June 9: The inhabitants of the municipality of Chisinau must pay the cleanup tax of 10 lei a month for each person registered at the declared domicile by July 31. The calculation was done by the Local Taxes Collection Division in accordance with the information provided by the Public Services Agency from the State Population Register, according to the situation on December 31, 2022.

June 9: The Chisinau City Hall has launched the web information resource “transparency portal. Accessing this resource, those interested can see in real time information about the financial flows, purchases and tender contests. The presented information is fragmented into a number of sections and shows how the public funds are managed, what happens to the taxes paid by the people, all the procurement procedures, employment process, trade notifications, certificates and permits, projects and strategic polity documents and many other internal processes and documents.

June 10: A festival dedicated to cherries, called Cireșar (the popular name for June, literally cherry-picker), is taking place today in Chisinau’s suburban town of Trușeni. The Chisinau City Hall said in a press release that it has prepared, together with the local administration of Trușeni, a number activities for both children and adults attending the festival.

June 10: The open-air Green Theater, located in Chisinau’s Valea Morilor Park, reopened yesterday after a first stage of renovation. This was marked by a folk music concert featuring Nicolae Botgros’s Band and friends as well as the “Joc” Folk Dance Ensemble. “I’m so glad to see so many beautiful people of all ages, thirsty for good music, cultural events and outdoor activities. I’d like to thank our talented artists who are second to none and who create memorable moments for us. The municipality will continue the modernization works of this summer theater, which is the only one of such capacity in Europe, where 10,000 people can watch performances simultaneously”, declared Chisinau Mayor Ion Ceban.

June 12: The Chisinau City Hall has signed an €8 million loan agreement and a €4 million grant agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to rehabilitate the Bâc River. The money is accessed from the Green Climate Fund. During the signing ceremony, Mayor Ion Ceban stated that the rehabilitation effort will include cleaning and landscaping the river so as to minimize flooding risks. “It is a long-awaited project for us, with deep analysis of the situation in the field. Experts from the country and abroad have been involved in this”, said the mayor.
 
June 13: The Days of Chisinau will be staged in Vienna on June 23. The Chisinau City Hall said that by such activities, they aim to promote the Moldovan culture and traditions in the heart of Austria. The event will take place in the concert hall Das-MuTh - Konzertsall in Augartenspitz Park. Artists and bands from Moldova will perform there, including master Eugen Doga, Brio Sonores, Municipal Orchestra “Camerata Chisinau”, Natalia Tanasiichuk, Vitalie and Cătălin Advahov.

June 13: Swings for children and adults were placed in the Chisinau Park “Dendrariu”. These are similar to the swings that were set up earlier on Grigore Vieru alley. The General Housing and Amenities Division said that work on two playgrounds is underway in the same park. One of these playgrounds is intended for children with special needs. Also, the municipality is building a fitness and workout ground in “Dendrariu” for those who prefer sport.

June 14: The Moldovan culture and traditions will be promoted during the Days of Chisinau that will be staged in Virrei Amat square of Nou Barris quarter in Barcelona on July 9. The Spanish city will host a concert featuring Moldova artists and bands and also music and dance ensembles of the host country. The band Zdob și Zdub and the Orchestra of the Advahov Brothers are the special invitees of the event.

June 14: Trucks will travel only on the internal lanes of the roadway on the bridge of Ismail St in Chisinau as new road signs are being set up in the area. The Chisinau City Hall said the measure was taken following the examination of the state of the bridge on Ismail St so as to reduce the negative impact on the peripheral elements of the construction.

June 15: The reanimatology and intensive care unit of Municipal Children’s Hospital No. 1 was inaugurated after being extensively renovated. It was outfitted with advanced equipment and systems and now meets all the national and international standards, having the treatment, administrative and technical areas clearly delimited. The unit also has a modern ventilation system with an air filtering mechanism. The head of the General Social Assistance and Health Division Boris Gîlcă said that Municipal Children’s Hospital No. 1 is the oldest children’s hospital in Moldova, being founded in April 1884. A sum of 3.8 million lei was allotted from the municipal budget for repairing the reanimatology and intensive care unit and properly equipping it.

June 17: Sixteen articulated buses “Solaris Urbino 18”, which were purchased by the Chisinau City Hall at the end of 2022, are being technically tested and will be soon be son put on routes in the capital city. Mayor general of the municipality of Chisinau Ion Ceban said the Swedish buses have low floor, ramps for wheelchair access, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, GPS and video surveillance systems. A bus was bought for €41,900 with delivery costs included.

June 17: The first edition of the “Sports Chisinau 2023” Festival was opened in the Park “La Izvor”. Chisinau is the capital of culture, reading, education, sport and arts. “We would like many people to come to this event so as to enliven the city,” said mayor general Ion Ceban. According to the mayor, the Park “La Izvor” is a suitable place for playing football, basketball, volleyball, tennis and other types of sport. This location will be further developed and will become a real Olympic city. “I wish remarkable successes to everyone and wish each of you to achieve your goals and become champions,” said Ion Ceban, addressing the participants in the festival.

June 20: Children aged between 7 and 18 and their families that are in situations of risk, including refugees, will receive psychological and psychosocial assistance, will be able to develop social-emotional skills and will be guided by employees at the day centers for children and families that were opened in Chisinau. By two such institutions were set up in each district of the capital city in a move to offer a friendly environment for children and families and to prevent the separation of children from the family. The beneficiaries can use the service for six months and the period can be extended, if necessary. Deputy mayor of the municipality of Chisinau Angela Kutasevich said that children and families at these centers will have access to a number of support programs that ensure social inclusion, psychosocial inclusion and also to pedagogical support, specialized support on the part of employees of the General Children’s Rights Protection Division.

June 20: A portal dedicated to projects and programs implemented by the Chisinau City Hall was launched. The platform proiecte.chisinau.md can be used to study the over 1,000 large-scale projects implemented by the local public authorities in Chisinau in 2020-2023. Mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban said the Chisinau City Hall is the most transparent and efficient public institution in the country. Over 1,000 large-scale projects were designed and implemented with the assistance of each member of the City Hall’s team for the citizens of the municipality of Chisinau, including waste management, energy efficiency, road building projects and projects to construct new kindergartens, schools, youth centers and day centers for children.

June 21: At the end of August, 50 more buses will be put on the suburban routes of Chisinau, in addition to the 87 buses that were placed on the same routes in 2020-2022. This year alone, the Chisinau City Hall plans to purchase 220 units of transport for the Urban Bus Company. In 2020-2022, 87 of the 174 bought buses were put on 18 routes that serve the inhabitants of the suburbs of the capital city. These are new and used buses of the makes ISUZU, VDL, MAN, and Volvo. At the end of last year, the municipality acquired 16 articulated buses “Solaris Urbino 18”, which will run on urban routes.

June 23: A special trolleybus route connecting the Circus stop to Chisinau arena on the city’s outskirts will run during June 24 and 25, between 11:30AM and 9:30 PM. The route is being created to meet the increased demand for transportation in connection with the 1st edition of the Arena Auto Fest Exhibition, the City Hall said in a press release.

June 26: The General Housing and Amenities Division continues to fix chess tables in public spaces in the municipality of Chisinau. Four chess tables were set up in Ciocana district of Chisinau, while four more chess tables are now available in Vadul lui Vodă town. Irina Boțu, communicator of the General Housing and Amenities Division, said the chess tables were installed in Vadul lui Vodă according to the municipal project to lay out the area around the beach.

June 26: The day camps in the municipality of Chisinau completed their programs, except for one institution that will continue for one more round. The summer camps, sports camps from outside the city and the ecological camp at the Young Naturalists’ City Center continue welcoming children, as do extra-school institutions, camps of arts schools, thematic camps of community centers for children and teens and thematic camps entitled “Summer Challenges” organized by the Municipal Library “B. P. Hasdeu” with its branches.

June 26: A new basketball court is ready to be used by the students of the Dacia Lyceum in Chisinau. The municipal Directorate for Housing and Public Amenities says that the works involved installing the playing surface and the furniture and renovating the sidewalk. The city budget allocated around one million lei for this. Elsewhere in the municipality, the rehabilitation of football pitches at seven schools is ongoing. These are the lyceums Universul, A. Ioan Cuza, Olimp, Petru Zadnipru, George Meniuc, Dante Alighieri and A. Pushkin.

June 27: The works to write the addresses on apartment buildings go on in Centru and Râșcani districts of Chisinau. This is a project implemented by the General Housing and Public Amenities Division which was initiated last year, but was already completed in Botanica and Ciocana districts. The goal of the initiative is to ensure the emergency services’ swift access in case of exceptional situations and to help the citizens to easier orient themselves and find an address.

June 28: More than 80 apartment buildings in the municipality of Chisinau will be extensively repaired this year, at the request of citizens of the capital city. Works to replace windows, roofs and engineering networks started or are to start at a number of addresses in Chisinau, the head of the General Hosing and Public Amenities Division Ion Burdiumov has told.
