The stake of the withdrawal of the Democratic Party’s candidate Marian Lupu from the presidential race is to ensure the credibility of the government by forming a social-democratic alliance, journalist Ion Terguta says in an analysis posted on social networking sites, quoted by IPN.

“The question is why a party that holds all the reins and resources of the country suddenly decides to renounce the last element that would have offered it absolute power? Geopolitics, which dominates our minds, could have nothing to do with this situation. Vlad Plahotniuc was right – he spoiled the evening of many people,” says the author.

According to him, this election campaign has none of the characteristics of the previous campaigns. “It was combative from its very conception. The events were yet precipitated by the nomination of the common candidate. The calculations didn’t resist the people’s hatred and it then became clear that this time the country will no longer be subdued. […]. Ina Popenko, Ilan Shor’s interface, was removed without too many comments. This wasn’t yet enough for Marian Lupu to reach the runoff elections. The losing of elections by the parties of the power would have been disastrous for theme,” said Ion Terguta.

He noted that the tactic game consists in the camouflaging of the real score of the alliance parties, re-formation of the power by attracting a party with popularity (PSRM), and corruption of the opposition by offering electoral support. “After Marina Lupu announced his withdrawal, sources in the PPEM responsively said Iurie Leanca will follow his example. But, surprise – the definitive answer will be made public only today. The problem is that the supporters of the PPEM will definitely migrate to Maia Sandu, as opposed to those of the PDM who, most probably, will choose between Maia Sandu and Igor Dodon, while the joint candidate will be advantaged,” stated Ion Terguta.

According to the journalist, everyone waits to see what the Liberal Party says. “I presume the PL understood that it an outsider and directly attacks Vlad Plahotniuc, making him responsible for the games behind the curtains. Minister of Environment Valeriu Munteanu confirmed this hypothesis indirectly yesterday evening, when he said he intuits he will not stay long in his post. Also, Mihai Ghimpu said the PDM withdrew in favor of Igor Dodon. We should presume that a social-democratic alliance is to be formed soon and April 7 will ultimately end with the transformation of the communist party into a social-democratic one. It is a revolution that we understood mistakenly and in which we took part unconsciously,” Ion Terguta writes in his analysis.
