The controversies surrounding the energy sector and the lack of progress in the justice reform are among the biggest factors that caused the need to replace the Government, says the political pundit Ion Tăbîrță.

The pundit doubts that the outgoing deputy prime minister Andrei Spînu will return in the next lineup, considering that energy affairs have come under most criticism in the Gavrilița Government.

“Sure, certain ministers from the outgoing Cabinet will continue to serve in the next one as well. All the more so as the current ruling party faces a certain shortage of staff. The biggest question marks float over Andrei Spînu. Unfortunately, his name has been widely circulated in the public space, not necessarily in positive terms. Many began to see in these speculations a detriment to PAS. Previously, President Maia Sandu said that we need a specialized ministry in charge of energy matters, but this never happened. It is clear that energy is vital for national security”, Ion Tăbîrță said during a talk show on Vocea Basarabiei.

According to the pundit, although PAS came to power with a strong focus on the justice reform, the situation in the field appears to be seeing regressions rather than progress.

“For the governing party it is important to get over this political image hurdle. It is now crucial that governance becomes more efficient. At present this efficiency leaves much to be desired. The justice reform, which is the zero priority of the current ruling party, is dragging its feet. In fact, we see setbacks in this area. In the Prosecution Service we are witnessing a dispute among clans. Some say that certain people in the government have accepted figures of questionable repute in the justice system”, said Ion Tăbîrță

On February 10, President Maia Sandu designated Dorin Recean as a candidate for prime minister after the resignation announced earlier in the day by Natalia Gavrilița. Recean was appointed security and defense policy adviser to President Sandu in February 2022. He served as minister of the interior in the Filat and the Leancă Cabinets.
