Ion Sturza, who was nominated for premiership by President Nicolae Timofti, will most probably not gain the number of votes needed to become Premier. Such conclusions were formulated in the talk show “Politics” on TV 7 channel, IPN reports.

Anatol Taranu, director of the Center for Political Research and Consultancy “Politicon”, considers Ion Sturza is aware that he does not have chances to be voted in. “Sturza could built a team of professionals who would be able to take the country out of the crisis, but he does not have chances to garner the necessary number of votes. Nicolae Timofti shocked us all with this courage that he showed towards the end of his tenure,” he stated.

Analyst Alexei Tulbure considers Ion Sturza is a good candidate, but he does not have chances to be voted in. “Even if he is a pro-European candidate able to do reforms, I don’t think he will obtain the necessary number of votes,” noted the analyst.

Political analyst Vitalie Andrievschi said Ion Sturza is not a suitable candidate and this will not be voted in Premier. “Ion Sturza wants to profit from the situation and to come when everything is ready for him. Those from the PDM cannot forgive him for leaving the party in 2001. I think we should give a chance to Vladimir Plahotniuc to show what he can do. If he does not manage to do something, he should leave politics for good,” he stated.

However, political analyst Igor Botan believes Sturza has chances to be voted in and his appointment depends on the Western partners.

The leaders of the PSRM and PDM announced they will not vote for a Sturza Government.
