Former Prime Minister of Moldova Ion Sturza said the Political Bloc ACUM DA PAS should continue the discussions with the Socialist parliamentary group. In an interview for Radio Free Europe that is quoted by IPN, Ion Sturza said no one wants snap elections as the electoral outcome will not change dramatically. Maybe someone dreams of strengthening one’s position, like the Democratic Party, but this is a mistake.

According to the ex-Premier, a situational alliance that would change the political landscape in Chisinau and the way they do politics here is something that should be implemented. Many would reach a consensus in this regard, but the vainglory, lack of experience, lack of understanding that real politics is slightly different from the romanticized one will not allow the political players, first of all those from ACUM, to accept an alliance or a small-steps tactic to achieve their goal – to destroy the oligarchic system and restore the functionality of the state institutions, etc.

According to Ion Sturza, a hypothesis is for the Bloc ACUM and the PSRM to form a technical Government for a definite period of time so as to manage the pressing problems and return things to normality. The problem is that in Moldova the state institutions do not work for the people, for the economy and there is no program for the future. There is a corporate governed by one persons and everyone depends on the whims, state of spirit and health of this person.

The ex-Premier noted the snap elections in autumn, even simultaneously with the local ones, can change the score obtained in the recent elections, but not many want such elections even if not much time remained for forming a coalition and starting to form the administrative bodies of Parliament and the Government. Even if the informal leader of the PSRM Igor Dodon would like to form an alliance with the PDM, the dependence on the firms position of Moscow prevents him from doing so.

Ion Sturza said they often cover the meetings of President Dodon in Moscow or with the ambassador of Russia. But Igor Dodon so far this year met for nine times with the U.S. ambassador. The EU is rather inexistent. “There could be a tactical agreement between the Russian Federation and the U.S. for ensuring Moldova’s statehood. No one wants chaos and rout in the Republic of Moldova,” he stated.

The former Prime Minister  added in such conditions everyone wonders what Vlad Plahotniuc does, what his role is and what he claims after these elections.
