The governor of the National Bank of Moldova Dorin Dragutanu had to leave and his resignation had been planned, former Prime Minister Ion Sturza said in the talk show “In Depth” on PRO TV Chisinau channel, IPN reports.

“Dragutanu tendered his resignation based on a well-planned strategy that was coordinated and prepared from media viewpoint. The governor had a well-structured message. I think more events related to this resignation will take place in the near future,” stated Ion Sturza.

The ex-Premier criticized Dorin Dragutanu for his activity as governor and for the statements he made after he resigned. “I must admit that initially this young man inspired me with hope. But he then became very impudent and defied Presidents and heads of Government. I was surprised by Dragutanu’s impertinence. Nobody in this country answers for something. It is a moral disaster to say with innocence that you are not to blame for anything. At least he could have admitted to making mistakes,” he said.

Ion Sturza also said that the governor had sufficient instruments to prevent the thefts committed at Banca de Economii. “I declare with overall responsibility that the Moldovan banking legislation is one of the most restrictive ones in Europe. How could it happen that enormous sums of money were stolen during Dragutanu’s years of glory as governor? Dragutanu’s statements are shocking. He could have followed all the dubious transactions from his personal computer and had all the instruments needed to intervene. Dragutanu showed extraordinary impudence,” he stated.
