Ex-Premier Ion Sturza said Andrian Candu is the person who actually managed the Democratic Party of Moldova and the businesses of the former Democratic leader Vladimir Plahotniuc. Moreover, Andrian Candu was the one who laid the basis for the economic frauds, concession of the airport, illegal privatization transactions and decisions to allocate money from the National Bank of Moldova, IPN reports.
“Andrian Candu is not a creation of Plahotniuc. Plahotniuc is the creation of Andrian Candu. When Mister Plahotniuc was involved in the so-called businesses, the expert in business structuring structured one the companies, included it in offshore areas and got 10% for this. Since then, Candu has been the aide of Plahotniuc in economic, business operations, but I would not name them “business”. He supported them up to the last moment and nothing was done without him. He held the signature and was a beneficiary of all Plahotniuc’s businesses in proportion of 10%. His signature is on a lot of documents, including at companies included in the Kroll list that are now investigated by the Prosecutor General’s Office,” Ion Sturza stated in the talk show “Secrets of the Power” on Jurnal TV channel.
Ion Sturza noted that those who are close to Vladimir Plahotniuc didn’t run businesses. They made effort to design schemes by which to take money out of the country’s foreign exchange reserves.
“A completely barbaric period followed during which very dubious personages appeared at the forefront, such as Yaralov whose dream has always been to steal from the foreign exchange reserves. They didn’t run businesses and didn’t have factories, plants, employees […] So, Andrian Candu is Plahotniuc’s aide in the major economic frauds and then in the political affairs. He practically ensured the entire interaction with the state institutions, control over the Government, Parliament and so on. Plahotniuc didn’t deal with the political affairs. He is the brain of this criminal system,” noted the businessman.
Ion Sturza said Andrian Candu also contributed to the concession of the airport, illegal privatization transactions and decisions to allocate money from the National Bank of Moldova.
“He is a very intelligent and well-educated man. He acquired knowledge at one of the largest financial consulting firms. He understands very well, but I don’t understand what he banks on. Knowing his profile and understanding him, I know that he is now very nervous and shows a complete lack of safety. Their strategy to influence the prosecutor through Dodon failed and this put them in a very difficult situation. I would recommend the persons with discernment from Chisinau not to do business with Andrian Candu as this is very noxious,” said Ion Sturza.
The ex-Premier noted the current prosecutor general cannot be controlled by political instruments and Andrian Candu will not be able to avoid investigations. “They realize very well that this is impossible nowadays and this will not be accepted by the national and foreign public opinion. Perspicacious analysts who know what is going on in the Republic of Moldova realize how the prosecutor in Chisinau is and they are very satisfied with this profile. Stoianoglo is no longer the target. The goal is to destabilize the Republic of Moldova, to deepen the political and economic crisis so as to gain more time,” stated Ion Sturza.
