The nationalization of illegal constructions and recycling of waste by meeting all the European norms are among the promises made by the candidate of the Political Party “NOI” for mayor general of the municipality of Chisinau Andrei Munteanu. For his part, the candidate of the Liberal Party Ion Purice promised that immediately after he takes over the mayoralty of Chisinau, he will transform the capital city into a Romanian and Euro-Atlantic fortress. The two candidates presented their priorities in the debates program “I want to be a mayor” on ProTV Chisinau channel, IPN reports.
As the mayor general of Chisinau, Andrei Munteanu promises to reduce the public transport fare to 4 lei, to attract investors to build a modern waste burning center and to modernize the drinking water treatment station in the municipality, and to root out corruption at the City Hall.
“I propose an unprecedented model of fighting corruption at the City Hall. For each suspicion of corruption, an announcement will be placed on the advertising board of the City Hall. We will also work out a normative basis for nationalizing illegal constructions. It will be a unique measure for fighting illegal constructions. As regards waste, I already established contacts and can bring to Chisinau the most advanced equipment for turning waste into compost and also technologies for burning a part of waste. I see the cooperation with the central administration based exclusively on arguments and not on something personal,” stated the candidate of “NOI” Party.
The Liberal Party’s candidate, who is a doctor by profession, promises to ensure a healthy, green, clean city attractive to investors. Ion Purice noted that as a mayor, together with the Liberal Party’s team, he will conduct an audit of the municipal budget and will start to rehabilitate all the historical buildings.
“Chisinau must become again a Romanian, Euro-Atlantic fortress where the inhabitants enjoy peace, welfare and security. In the electoral program, we propose rehabilitating the buildings of national identity and we should get rid of Soviet-era structures. The building of the People’s Council, where the Union of 1918 was voted, was left to ruin. The Iasi Mayor’s Office was ready to intervene, but those from Chisinau didn’t take steps in this direction,” stated Ion Purice.
The candidate of the Party “Common Action – Civic Congress” Party Mihail Polyanski refused to take part in the debates program “I want to be a mayor”.
The debates are organized by ProTV Chisinau channel in partnership with Promo-LEX Association, the Association “Journalistic Investigations Center”, the independent online publication “NewsMaker”, “My Mayor’s Office” Association, IPN News Agency and the portal “Privesc.eu”.
