The Democratic Party’s candidate in single-member constituency No. 38 Hâncești Ion Mereuță said the voters want a local to be elected as an MP so that this is directly in contact with the people and knows their problems. He was born and was raised, worked and lives in Hâncești and knows the needs of the locals very well. He noted he is ready to solve the problems faced by the people in Hâncești together with the local team and also with the parliamentary team of the PDM. The candidate made such statements in a public debate titled “Stake of candidates vs. stake of voters” that involved candidates for MP in constituency No. 38 Hâncești, first round, staged by IPN News Agency.

Ion Mereuță said it is easy to speak about the stake of voters as he is also a voter in single-member constituency No. 38 Hâncești. His party mates took into account his experience as a mayor of Leușeni commune and as a customs servant in the central public administration. During the past four years, he served as the Government’s representative at the local level and knows very well the local problems and many of these were solved with his involvement.

The candidate said that if he wins the seat of MP, he will start to identify solutions to the problems he knows easier and faster than his opponents because earlier, in the posts he held, he could communicate with people from all the 40 localities of Hâncești district and informed himself about the local problems in discussions with the local public authorities of the first and second levels and a part of these were already remedied.

“I want the citizens in constituency No. 38 Hâncești to be sure that I will be near them each day. So, as an MP, I will make field trips on Mondays and will then work as part of commissions and will take part in the plenary sittings so as to solve those problems through the agency of the bills that will be drafted,” stated Ion Mereuță. He noted that as a jurist, he will make use of the rights of MP so as to provide assistance to the people.

According to the candidate, many of his opponents speak about the problems existing in the constituency in general, but they don’t know, for example, that there is no road or at least gravel between the villages Drăgușenii Noi and Horodca, not mentioning asphalt. The election runners have their own electoral platforms and experience, but the choice is made by the voters. At least 1,000 voters signed in favor of him when they put their signatures on the subscription lists. “We are obliged to contribute to the prosperity of our native villages. My slogan is: “Together for the prosperity of our native place,” stated Ion Mereuță.

The Democrat also said that the seat of MP in this constituency in the elections of February 2019 was won by Democratic candidate Alexandru Botnari and it would be normal for this seat to belong again to the Democratic parliamentary group.

The February 17 debate also involved the Shor Party’s candidate Vitalie Balinschi and Vladimir Bolea, the representative of the Action and Solidarity Party’s candidate Olesea Stamate. The candidate of the Party of Socialists Ștefan Gațcan was also invited to the debate, but he invoked emergency professional reasons that prevented him from coming.

On February 18, IPN stages a new round of debates that will feature the UNION Electoral Bloc’s candidate Dorin Chirtoacă, independent candidate Grigore Cobzac, and the Liberal Democratic Party’s candidate Anatolie Postolachi.

The debate “Stake of candidates vs. stake of voters” that involved candidates for MP in constituency No. 38 Hâncești, first round, was the 125th installment of the series of debates “Developing political culture through public debates” that is supported by the German foundation “Hanns Seidel”.
