The Joint Control Commission, gathered on Tuesday in an extraordinary meeting, did not reach to an understanding about the future of those 2 policemen still arrested by the force structures of the regime from Tiraspol.
Ion Lehau, member of Chisinau’s delegation, communicated for Info-Prim Neo that the Moldovan side proposed creating a joint group having the duty to examine this issue, but the Russian and Transnistrian delegation rejected this proposal.
The Moldovan delegation is sure that the policemen have nothing in common with the accusations they are charged with, Leahu ended. The discussions on this issue will continue on Thursday, June 22.
Five policemen were kidnapped, on Wednesday, June 14, by the intelligence services of the self-proclaimed Nistrean Republic, 3 of them being set free on Thursday, June 17. According to the minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, Gheorghe Papuc, four of them are employees of the Tighina Police Office, and the fifth was a member of a joint group investigating a murder case. The minister qualified the action as kidnapping, justifying that there was no reason for their arrest. According to the declarations of the separatist forces, those 5 policemen were arrested on the ground that “they were preparing kidnaps of statesmen of Transnistria”. The official news agency Olvia-Press informs that the Court from Tiraspol will prolong the arrest mandate for those two policemen for other days more.
