The head of the Association “Justice and Uprightness” Ion Dron said civil society must have its eye on the government, criticize it, exert pressure on it, draft strategies and programs and put them forward. Such an opinion was stated in the public debate “The pro-European government: ‘labor pains’ and quality of society in the role of ‘midwife’”, which was staged by IPN News Agency in partnership with Radio Moldova. It involved representatives of a number of civil society platforms of Moldova.

Ion Dron said the political crises witnessed until now had also a positive effect as the number of those who criticize the government is higher now than four years ago and civil society was mobilized. “Currently, the civil society members are making effort to find a consensus and join in a move to demand that the government should do concrete things,” he stated.

“As representatives of civil society, we are obliged to switch over from uttering slogans to drafting projects and to find possibilities and forms of promoting our initiatives. If we are better than they are in doing the justice sector reform and the reform of the prosecution service, we must propose alternative programs.”

He also said that the new government suggested nothing new in the justice area, compared with 20 years ago. “We must have our eye on them and tell them that we do not believe them and that they are unable to meet our expectations. We must tell them that we no longer live with illusions and should find forms and methods of exerting pressure. However, before exerting pressure, we must put forward out projects that are much better, to our minds,” said Ion Dron.

The public debate “The pro-European government: ‘labor pains’ and quality of society in the role of ‘midwife’” is the 37th of the series of debates “Development of political culture in public debates” that are organized with the support of the German foundation Hanns Seidel.
