The candidate for mayor of Chisinau of the National Alterative Movement Ion Ceban said they aim to continue rehabilitating the parks in the capital city and in the immediate period will revamp the Square of the Cathedral, the Public Garden “Ștefan cel Mare și Sfânt” and the Forest-Park Râșcani, IPN reports.
The incumbent mayor of Chisinau told a news conference that together with his team, over the last few years they rehabilitated over 30 parks, alleys, squares and green spaces. Playgrounds, sports grounds and many other elements were set up there for the inhabitants to feel comfortable.
“We now aim to rehabilitate three large and important parks. The rehabilitation works in the Square of the Cathedral are underway. We changed the furniture, the lighting system and installed irrigation systems there. The alleys that were in a deplorable state are being asphalted. We restored the fountains. It lasted long to get all the permits from the Ministry of Culture,” noted the election contender.
According to Ion Ceban, they will go again to the Ministry to ask for permission to execute current repair works in the Public Garden “Ștefan cel Mare și Sfânt” and to prevent the ruining of the two monuments of national importance there.
The Forest-Park Râșcani remained practically untouched and the authorities in the immediate period will perform repair works there, but will seek to keep the areas green and to create recreational places with a lot of elements.
The candidate also said that the Byk River will soon start to be rehabilitated in accordance with the highest standards. The modernization works include the cleaning of the riverbed and laying out of the banks. Agreements were signed with the EBRD to implement the given project.
Ion Ceban noted that the urban rainwater drainage system will also be renovated so as to prevent flooding and to improve the quality of water that flows into the river. He promised that the lakes will be cleaned and beaches and recreational areas will be put up, similar to those in Vadul lui Vodă, “La Izvor” Park, and “Valea Trandafirilor” Park.
Ion Ceban of the National Alterative Movement will be next to No. 16 on the ballot.
