Ion Ceban registered as election contender

Ion Ceban, who runs for a new term in office as mayor of Chisinau, was registered as an election contestant. The leader of the National Alternative Movement Party will be under No. 16 on the ballot.

Contacted by IPN for details, the head of the Chisinau District Electoral Council Viorica Gadîmba said that October 6 is the last day when persons can apply to be registered as contenders in the November 5 local elections. If several persons file applications today, a draw will be held in the evening to decide their place on the ballot. The Chisinau District Electoral Council will examine the documents within seven days.

As to the list of candidates who cannot be registered as election runners in the upcoming elections, Viorica Gadîmba said this list was received, but no decisions based on the given list have been yet taken.

As many as 16 candidates for mayor of Chisinau have been registered so far as contenders in the November 5 general local elections.

The registered candidates are:

1.Vasile Costiuc of the Party “Democracy at Home”;
2. Ruslan Codreanu of the Electoral Bloc “Ruslan Codreanu”;  
3. Constantin Butucel of the Party “We Build Europe at Home”;
4. Ion Ștefăniță of the “Respect Moldova” Movement;
5. Diana Caraman of the Party of Communists;
6. Lilian Carp of the Party of Action and Solidarity;
7. Anatol Usatyi of the Party of Development and Consolidation of Moldova;
8. Vadim Brînzaniuc of the European Social Democrat Party;
9. Ion Bulgac of the Coalition for Unity and Wellbeing;
10. Adrian Albu of the Party of Socialists;
11. Mihail Poleanschi of the Civic Congress;
12. Victor Chironda of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform”;
13.
Oleg Burlacu of the Liberal Democratic Party;
14. Vasile Bolea of the Revival Party;
15. Roman Mihăeș of the National Liberal Party;
16. Ion Ceban of the National Alternative Movement.

The Council is examining the files of six more applicants: Dragoș Galbur of the National Moldovan Party (17); Alla Popova of Moldova’s Patriots Party (18); Anatolie Prohnitski of the Ecologist Green Party (19); Cristina Vulpe of the Chance Party (20); Andrei Donică of the Professionals’ Movement “Speranța-Nadejda” (21), and Ion Purice of the Liberal Party (22).
