The leader of the National Alternative Movement (MAN) Ion Ceban, who won a new term of office as mayor of the municipality of Chisinau in the November 5 election, thanked all those who voted for him and also those who went to the polls. “I assure you that I will be the mayor of everybody,” the mayor-elect told a news conference.
Ion Ceban said that it is a victory, but is also great responsibility. In the election process, they witnessed intentionally designed stratagems and election rigging attempts and his team has relevant evidence that will be transmitted to international observers and the responsible institutions.
As to the affairs in the city, the mayor-elect said that he already talked with two of the deputy mayors about the heating season, the budget and the immediate priorities.
The MAN leader noted that the educational system is one of their priorities. “Given that the number of children of preschool and school ages in the municipality of Chisinau has increased, we will focus on the improvement of education infrastructure – better equipped and modern kindergartens and schools. We will extend the existing institutions or will build new ones,” stated Ion Ceban.
According to the preliminary data presented by the Central Election Commission, Ion Ceban polled 50.62% of the ballot in the mayoral election in Chisinau.
