Ion Ceban and Andrei Năstase lead in voter preferences in the capital, survey

Just over a quarter of the voters in the capital, more precisely 25.2% would vote for Ion Ceban (PSRM) in the first round of elections for the Chisinau mayoralty, while 18.7% would elect Andrei Năstase (ACUM). According to an opinion poll, presented at an IPN press conference by Mihai Bologan, director of "Intelligent Data" sociological research company, in the top three of voters' preferences is also the former mayor Dorin Chirtoaca (PL), with 8.4%.

In the fourth place, with 4.3%, is Ruslan Codreanu (independent), his candidacy being rejected by the Chisinau Municipal Electoral Council, and then by the Central Election Commission. Octavian Țîcu (PUN) is preferred by 2.7% of the inhabitants of the capital, while Valeriu Munteanu (USB) would obtain 1.3% of the votes.

If Ion Ceban and Andrei Năstase get through to the second round of mayor’s elections, for the socialist candidate would vote 36% of the inhabitants of the capital, while Andrei Nastase is favoured by 33.7% of the interviewees.

As to the Chisinau City Council, 26.3% of those who answered the opinion poll would vote for the PSRM, 16.8% - for the ACUM bloc, 6.5% - for the Liberal Party. For the accession of the PDM to the Municipal Council would vote 5.3% of Chisinau dwellers, for PCRM - 3.1%. Slightly over 2% of the interviewees indicated "Șor" Party as their favourite for the CMC, while 2.1% - indicated Partidul Nostru.

According to the survey, 61.2% of the inhabitants of the capital say they will definitely participate in the local elections, 12.8% say they will probably participate, 14.8% will not participate, and 6.9% are undecided. Less than 1% did not answer the question as to whether they will participate in the local elections.

The survey was conducted from September 25 to 30 on a sample of 1193 people. The error margin is of +/- 2.8%.
