International Organization for Migration in Moldova, alongside the Bureau for Diaspora Relations, the Hîrbovăț City Hall, and members of the diaspora, inaugurated a new playground in Hîrbovăț, Anenii Noi district. The project is part of the "DAR 1+3" initiative and aims to strengthen social ties between Ukrainian refugees and local communities.

The project aims to promote social cohesion between Ukrainian refugees and the local community. The new recreational area includes playgrounds, relaxation zones, and spaces for recreational activities designed to encourage social interaction and active participation of the residents of Hîrbovăț.

“Diaspora communities have a unique capacity to contribute to local development, acting as bridges between cultures, ideas, and resources,” said Ester Ruiz de Azua, Head of IOM Moldova Mission. “Their financial contributions not only foster social and economic development but also help preserve the cultural heritage and identity of the Republic of Moldova.”

Rodica Croitor, Mayor of Hîrbovăț, added: “We are honored to open this wonderful space for young people, including refugees. This initiative strengthens active and inclusive social ties within our community.”

The project in Hîrbovăț is one of the 16 winning projects within the government’s "Diaspora Succeeds at Home DAR 1+3" program, supported by IOM with generous financial assistance from the U.S. government.
