IOM Deputy Director General visiting Moldova

Ugochi Daniels, Deputy Director General for Operations of the International Organization for Migration, is paying a visit to Moldova. The official started her day by meeting with representatives of IOM Moldova’s civil society partners involved in joint humanitarian projects.

Ugochi Daniels also met with Alexei Buzu, Moldova’s Minister of Labor and Social Protection. During the meeting, the IOM official emphasized the importance of strengthening social protection systems.

The advancement of migration in Moldova is important because it will contribute to filling the shortage of qualified personnel, and the IOM Deputy Director-General recommended that governments work on new draft migration legislation that moves in this direction.

For his part, Minister Alexei Buzu stressed in this context that it is key for Moldova’s course towards European integration to become irreversible.
