The Chisinau Public Amenities Division will open an investigation concerning the sweeping vehicles after acting mayor of Chisinau Ruslan Codreanu in the July 23 meeting of officials of municipal services said cash transfers of about 16,000 lei were made for these vehicles even if these are classed as defective. The announcement about the investigation was made by the Division’s head Ion Burdiumov, IPN reports.
Ion Burdiumov said the street sweepers are distributed to municipal service providing companies and are not managed by the Division he heads. “Transfers can be made by mistake as the human factor is involved. We will open an investigation. The responsible persons will be penalized in accordance with the law,” he stated.
The Division’s head also said that only 20 of the 40 street sweepers are functional. There is no authorized center for repairing such vehicles in Moldova. All the vehicles managed by the Public Amenities Division were inventoried and a specialized repair firm was contracted. They also agreed to costs of repair works.
