The commission investigating the Casino Law amendments which supposedly damaged the State Budget by 5 million lei will publish its report in October. The deadline was announced on Tuesday, July 19, after the commission’s meeting, by Liberal MP Valeriu Munteanu, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the parliamentarian, the commission had met 10 times and quizzed 12 people. “All the exact answers will be in the final report. I can only tell you about how our work is going”, he said. Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu told the public television on Monday that PLDM parliamentarian Veaceslav Ionita was to blame for the 5.6 million lei loss. Ghimpu explained that Ionita changed the figures in the amendment to the Casino Law after it had been approved by the Parliament. He promised to give further details at a press conference on Wednesday 10:00 AM. On Tuesday, PLDM vice president Valeriu Strelet told the press that Veaceslav Ionita should sue Mihai Ghimpu for slander. In the summer of 2010 Parliament reduced the tax on a casino table from 360,000 to 180,000 lei. The tax was in effect until February 2011 when the legislature reversed its decision.
