The trophy of the first International Duo Festival “Golden Wings 2009” was won by Moldova’s Nicoleta Nuca and Boris Coval. The award ceremony took place in the square of the National Opera House in Chisinau on Tuesday evening, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Congratulations to all the participants and the winners. They deserve your applause and admiration. It would be nice to have a duo of politicians at the next festivals so that they looked for and proposed solutions,” said Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca, who presented the trophy to the winners. The first, second and third positions were shared by two duos: Moldova – the UK, Macedonia – Israel, and Italy – Georgia. Moldovan duo Aliona Triboi and Andrei Raetski were awarded the prize for originality and individuality. Besides the competition for vocalists, there was held a contest for instrumental duos, which was won by violin players Livica Stirbu and Dumitru Pocitari from Moldova. The Laureates Gala ended with two recitals given by the famous British band Ottowan and Alexander Tihanovich and Iadviga Poplavskaia from Belarus. The International Duo Festival “Golden Wings 2009” held during September 5 – 8 brought together 20 duos from 13 countries. Moldova was represented by five duos.
