International Community calls Transnistria to get ready for „serious discussions” at the next negotiation round

International Community welcomes the actions of Ukraine directed towards the implementation of the Joint Declaration of the prime ministers of Ukraine and Moldova regarding joining customs control procedures, and EU and USA call Transnistria to get ready for „serious discussions” at the next negotiation round. Statements in this sense were made at the meeting of OSCE Permanent Council, according to MAEIE report. Permanent Delegation of Moldova reported to international community the importance that Moldovan authorities pay and the role of EU Assistance Mission at the border in order to ensure an efficient control of the frontier, to strengthen the institutional capacities of the appropriate services, especially in Transnistrian region at the Moldovan-Ukrainian state border. It was welcomed Ukraine’s decision to implement, starting 3 March 2006, the mechanism stipulated by the Joint Declaration of the prime ministers of Moldova and Ukraine of 30 December 2005 and provisions stipulated by the Bilateral Customs Protocol of 15 May 2003, it is mentioned in the report. The Moldovan part also expressed its high appreciation of the assistance given this sense by EU and USA. Delegation of Moldova launched an appeal to all participants at the negotiation process in format “5+2” to use the tools they have on the leaders of Tiraspol in order to determine them over a constructive approach of the items of the agenda of the negotiation process - democratisation and demilitarisation of Transnistrian region. Delegations of GUAM, of Ukraine, European Union, Canada and United States agreed with the final objectives and purposes of the EU Assistance Mission at Moldovan-Ukrainian, according to the report. The actions of Ukraine directed towards the implementation of the Joint Declaration were welcomed as well. EU and USA called Tiraspol to be ready for „serious discussions” and to address in a responsible way the topics included on the negotiation agenda taking place on 4-5 April 2006.
