The International Association of Business and Parliament (IABP) might contribute through professional and assistance programs to strengthening the capacities of the Parliament and facilitating its dialogue with businessmen, declared on Tuesday, July 25, Bruce George, the head of IABP. According to the quoted source, settling open collaboration relationship with businessmen would significantly contribute to reducing the number of corruption cases. George declared that the organization he heads will help the Parliament to elaborate a behavior Code for MPs. According to Bruce George, being an MP doesn’t mean one cannot have incomes, but they have to be declared and these declarations must be accessible for the population. “Voters deserve to now the origin of their candidates’ financial resources”, George said, giving the example of Great Britain where such practices are used for a long time already. The Coordination Council IABP-Moldova is to be created in Chisinau, and its chairman will be the speaker Marian Lupu, Info-Prim Neo also learned from the press conference. During his visit in Moldova, July 24-26, Bruce George met with the speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova at which Lupu pleaded in favor of settling an open collaboration mechanism between the Parliament and businessmen in order to avoid corruption cases and to improve the transparency of Parliament’s decisions and image. The speaker welcomed the activity of the International Association of Business and Parliament and said that the experience of IABP will considerably contribute to instituting a continuous and transparent dialogue with the local businessmen and will ensure a qualitative collaboration process. The International Association of Business and Parliament (IABP) is a non-profit, non-partisan and non-lobbying organization, which delivers an international protocol for establishing relationship between business and parliamentary leaders. IABP activates in Moldova from October 2005.
