Interim Mayor promises that the first block of flats for Transnistrian refugees will be erected in 6 months

The first block of flats for Transnistrian refugees will be put into commission in July 2007, the interim mayor of the capital Vasile Ursu promises. On Friday, November 10, he summoned a work session at the building site of the future block, in which representatives of the construction company and those of the Municipal Department of Capital Constructions participated.
The construction of the block of 80 flats, on the Ginta Latina str, began in May, 5 stories of the planned 10 being erected till now. Refugees repeatedly expressed their dissatisfaction with the delay of the construction works because of the lack of financial sources.
Within the frameworks of the session, the head of the Department, Tudor Gnaciuc said that this year, from both local and state budgets, MDL 8 mln have been allocated for building the edifice. The construction company has already utilized the sources allocated in 2005 – more than MDL 7 mln.
According to Vasile Ursu, the block of flats on the Ginta Latina str will be put into operation on July 1, 2007, and in December this year, the construction of the second block will be launched, also provided with 80 flats, on the N. Milescu Spataru str. Interim mayor pledged that the list of the refugees from eastern raions of the republic, who need apartments, will be proposed for approval to the Municipal Council, till the end of the year. The interim mayor considers that, thus, refugees will no longer have motives to protest.
The head of the Refugee Movement, Anatol Bazgu showed satisfaction with the assurances given concerning the terms of putting into operation, but asserts that refugees will monitor whether the mayor keeps his promises.
In order to finish the construction of the block of flats on the Ginta Latina str there is need of MDL 18 mln for the next year. The city Hall will request the government to participate in the finishing of the construction.
