Interim Mayor of Chisinau participates in IV World Mayors Summit

General Interim Mayor of the Municipality of Chisinau Veaceslav Iordan, who pays an official visit to Istanbul, Turkey to attend the IV World Mayors’ Summit, had a bilateral meeting with the mayor of Moscow, Iuri Lujcov.
According to a press release from the City Hall, quoted by Info-Prim Neo, the discussions focused on cooperation possibilities in the field of local administration. The parties agreed upon experience exchange between municipal specialists in different fields from Chisinau and Moscow, including sanitation and green spaces, as well as development of street infrastructure.
The Summit, which is held from April 12 to 15 in Istanbul, will largely dwell upon multicultural understanding, the role of cities and local governments in developing peace and cooperation between cities.
On February 12, 2004, Chisinau twinned with the capital city of Turkey, Ankara. Previously, Chisinau signed Twinning Agreements with Mannheim (Germany), Grenoble (France), Sacramento (USA), Bucharest (Romania), Tel-Aviv (Israel), Beijing (China), Reggio nell’Emilia (Italy), Kiev and Odessa (Ukraine), Minsk (Belarus). Besides Town Twinning Agreements, Chisinau signed Collaboration Agreements with Damascus (Syria), Citta di Castelo (Italy), Jerusalem (Israel), Hampshire (Great Britain), Budapest (Hungary), Moscow, Tula, Saratov (Russia).
