The adoption of innovative measures in the payment system is crucial for advancing the economic digitalization agenda and ensuring sustainable growth in the Republic of Moldova, the governor of the National Bank of Moldova Anca Dragu stated at a meeting with Visa and Mastercard representatives. In the meeting, Anca Dragu detailed the central bank’s priorities in the field of payments, emphasizing the importance of security, accessibility and consumer protection, IPN reports.
The governor also referred to the promotion of a digital economy and facilitation of the transition to noncash payment services, highlighting the role of technology in modernizing the financial system in the Republic of Moldova.
The VISA and Mastercard representatives presented their view for expanding the digital ecosystem and efforts to fit into an environment of trust and security, which is essential in combating fraud and other risks associated with digital payments.
The discussions underscored the central bank’s objectives, with a focus on developing and adopting advanced payment technologies to provide the citizens with safe, fast and convenient payment solutions.
