The Central Election Commission (CEC) did not register the initiative group in support of Avelin Tabarcea, who acts as a presenter at the events organized by the team of fugitive Ilan Shor. The decision was approved at Monday’s meeting, IPN reports.
The application submitted to the CEC indicates that the initiative group was established on August 30 by the citizens’ assembly. However, the members of the Commission had a number of questions about his political affiliation.
“According to public reports, Avelin Tabarcea was designated as a candidate for the position of district councilor for the Briceni constituency in the general local elections of the autumn of 2023 on behalf of the “Chance” Political Party. The registration of all these candidates was cancelled by the CES’ order. This points to his political affiliation,” said the deputy chairman of the Central Election Commission Pavel Postica.
Only three CEC members voted for the registration of the initiative group, and six members voted against. The same number of votes for and against were accumulated by the draft decision to register the initiative group to support the candidate for President Valentin Borodachi. Thus, the request submitted repeatedly by him was rejected.
At the same meeting, the CEC registered the Political Party “Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe” as a participant in the national constitutional referendum of October 20 with the option “YES”.
