Business entities will be able to set up facilities for economic and social activities in publicly owned green spaces on condition that these are compatible with the given areas. Also, the placing of facilities does not imply the modification of the purpose of those lots, as a bill that was given a first reading by Parliament provides, IPN reports.

The business entities will need the approval of the local public authorities, with which they will agree, in coordination with the Environment Agency, the location, the area of facilities and the conditions of performing the activities.

The bill refers to sports and recreational areas, installations for practicing sport, including auxiliary sports ground servicing and maintaining objects, stands, ways of access, irrigation systems, sanitary and sociocultural facilities, etc.

One of the bill sponsors Lilian Carp, who heads the Parliament’s commission on national security, defense and public order, said this legislative proposal is designed to solve the problems faced by the local public authorities in the process of setting up playgrounds, green areas and other recreational facilities that improve the infrastructure of green spaces.
