Inflation rate in August constituted 0.8%

Consumption prices in August 2006 increased by 0.8% compared with July. The prices for food products diminished by 3%, for non-alimentary products – increased by 1.9%, and for services offered to the population – increased by 5.9%. Compared with December 2005, the prices went up 7.9%.
According to data provided by the National Bureau of Statistics, the increase in prices in August was influenced by the considerable increase of tariffs for natural gas distribution and supply services offered to the population – by 27.4% and the urban public transport – by 17.9%.
The prices for food products increased, especially for diet eggs – by 14.3%, for poultry – by 3.4%. Season price cuts were registered for vegetables – by 34.3%, tomatoes – 62.1%, carrots -38.1%, potatoes – 15.1%, fruits – 6.3%. As well the fresh fish has cheapened by 2.6% and the sugar – by 2.3%.
Non-alimentary products prices increased for fuel – by 5.3% (including coal – by 5.6%), construction materials – by 2.8% (including concrete – by 3.1%) and goods for children – by 2.7%.
