The independent candidate for MP seat in constituency no. 50, in the west of the Republic of Moldova, Vasile Calmațui, declares himself dissatisfied with the fact that the authorities have changed at the last moment the address of the polling station 50/16 in Montreuil, Paris, France.

At an IPN press conference, Vasile Calmațui, has said that such a decision disadvantages him, because he distributed the initial address to potential voters and supporters. "Changing the address will bring me great moral and electoral damage, because the voters will believe that I lied to them. Voters will also be prevented from voting because they do not know the new address and will not be able to reach the polls,” says the candidate.

According to him, the address of the polling station in "rue des Ruffins" was changed to another address "avenue de Resistance". There is a 3-km distance between the two addresses, says Vasile Calmațui, which creates discomfort for voters who have already got used to the first address, where they voted in the previous elections.

The independent candidate states that he has contacted the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in France, then the Electoral Council of the electoral constituency no. 50, where he was told that the address was changed without further explanation. He also lodged an appeal with the CEC and is waiting for an answer.

In other news, Vasile Calmațui criticized Maia Sandu, saying that she "came to power by invoking the diaspora, however, at the moment, through the actions that take place, the diaspora is disadvantaged", and consequently even fewer people will show up at the polling stations.

The candidate invited the voters to vote for him, noting that he "is pleading for the rights of those who left the country, for the opening of polling stations in Paris."

The candidate also says that he is expecting an answer from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova on the subject.
