In Valeni village, Cahul district 160 ha of lands were flooded

Nearly 160 ha of agricultural lands from Valeni village, Cahul district were flooded by the Prut river, after the Danube waters spout through the bursting of a dyke, declared for Info-Prim Neo the head of the Exceptional Situations Department (DSE), the colonel Andrei Sumleanschi.
According to the quoted source in the last two days specialized services worked for the consolidation of the embankments using sandbags placed on a 600 metres territory. Sumleansci said, at the moment for the entrenchment of the embankments work 35 persons from the exceptional situations management, 50 from the Ministry of Defence, 55 from the Cahul Police Station and 40 civil persons from the Valeni village.
The chief of DSE says for the moment only two dwellings that have been built at 15 metres from the river are in danger. In the case the level of the waters will be higher nearly 100 houses from the village could be endangered.
According to DSE, other areas in the country are out of danger.
The last inundation in Valeni village happened in 1967.
