The Commission for Exceptional Situations should include persons with sufficient moral authority who would ensure a balance and objectivity in the communication of the Commission’s decision, PPPDA MP Igor Munteanu said, noting that in the current in fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, the dissemination of false data is unacceptable and the risk of fraud should be eliminated, IPN reports.

Igor Munteanu said that President Igor Dodon in the recent past “has daily congratulated the people on the ‘state of the nation’”, assuming a role that does not belong to the direct powers of the President in a parliamentary regime. Recently, President Dodon announced that everything is under control and there are 50,000 doctors who can contain the pandemic. Ex-minister of health Ala Nemerenko challenged the figures, saying there are only 12,000 active doctors and healthcare workers, including 1,000 students, if there can be found some yet.

“If Igor Dodon falsifies basic data concerning medical personnel, how relevant can be the data about the used equipment, donations received by the Republic of Moldova during the last few weeks, the state of patients and of doctors who look after persons infected with COVID-19?”, wondered Igor Munteanu.

He also questioned the government procurement procedures staged without tender contests, by derogation from the law. “Why the price of a visor (in large quantities) is 0.92 euros, which is 18.50 lei, while in the document published by the Government the price of such an item made in China is 55.14 lei,” said the MP, noting the price of a visor made in Poland is three times lower, but the current Government prefers to import these products from China.
