The improvement of the living conditions of people will be the main priority of the parliamentary group of the Democratic Party (PDM) in the 2020 spring-summer session, the party’s president Pavel Filip announced in a news conference.

In a press release, the party says the Democratic MPs will support and will initiate bills that will contribute to a better life for the people and will monitor the evolution of the projects initiated by them earlier on this dimension. Among the priorities will be the bills that refer to high-quality education, modern medicine, allowances, roads, water and sewerage and others. The MPs will work further to improve the business environment and to ensure economic growth, as they did during the past few years, IPN reports.

The Democrats note they are aware that the economic development and improvement of the quality of life should go in parallel with the process of strengthening the rule of law and the reformation of the justice sector. This way, they will support and promote legislative initiatives that can restore the people’s confidence in justice and can ensure a veritable fight against corruption. The Democratic MPs will continue to harmonize the national legal framework with the EU’s and to undertake good practices in this regard.

The PDM will support and promote the initiatives aimed at contributing to settling the Transnistrian conflict within a sovereign, independent and integral Republic of Moldova, beginning with the solving of the problems faced by the citizens from both sides of the Nistru.

“As we remain in the opposition, a constructive opposition, we will support the initiatives coming from any political party, on condition that these match these priorities,” said Pavel Filip.

The spring parliamentary session started on February 3. The date of the first plenary sitting of Parliament this year wasn’t yet set.
