The certificate for looking after the sick child will be issued up to the child’s age of 10, not 7 as now, while in the case of children with a disability degree or cancer – up to the age of 16. This is provided in the amendments to the instructions concerning the issuing of the sick leave certificate approved by the outgoing Cabinet on July 1, IPN reports.

Also, the leave for looking after the sick child will last for 60 days cumulatively during a calendar year, as opposed to 30 days now. In order to ensure the social protection of pregnant women, the maternity leave certificate will be issued on the 30th pregnancy week. In the case of pregnancy with triples and more children, the maternity leave will include 182 days of prenatal leave and 70 days of postnatal leave.

Acting Minister of Health Mircea Buga said there were also made important amendments referring to cases when the sick leave certificate is not issued, namely: when the person intentionally causes injuries to oneself, loses the capacity to work as a result of a crime, presents false documents or travels abroad while on sick leave.
