IMF conducting third assessment of Moldova program

IMF experts will carry out a third assessment of the program with Moldova under by the Extended Credit Mechanism (ECF) and the Extended Financing Mechanism (EFF). The program’s progress and macroeconomic developments were discussed at a meeting between Prime Minister Dorin Recean and the IMF team, led by Ruben Atoyan.

The prime minister noted that the support offered to the Republic of Moldova by the IMF is vital for economic rehabilitation, but also the achievement of the objectives of the current Government. According to the prime minister, among the basic priorities of the authorities are relaunching the economy, improving the investment climate, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises and developing instruments that better target the needs of citizens, states a press release from the Government.

The parties talked about measures needed to mitigate the shocks caused by the energy crisis and noted the importance of strengthening institutional capacities to achieve program objectives and deliver concrete results.

The program with FMI has a duration of 40 months. It was approved on December 21, 2021.
