Lawyer Ilie Rotaru recommends that politicians introduce and vote on a bill aimed at amending articles 124 and 125 of the Constitution, in regard to the Prosecutor's Office and prosecutors. According to him, the two articles are "the legal basis of the state power usurpation".

In an IPN press conference, the lawyer said that Article 124 regarding the "Duties and structure" of the Prosecutor's Office was copied from the Romanian Constitution. "However, Romanian prosecutors act under the leadership of the minister of justice", highlighted Ilie Rotaru.

“In Moldova the power is legislative, executive and judicial. There is no mention of prosecutors. These are separate powers that collaborate. In the Constitution of Romania, the state is organized according to the principles of separation and balance of powers”, the lawyer said.

According to Ilie Rotaru, "independence of justice" is an expression conveyed in the public space, yet it is not provided in the supreme law. Additionally, there is no clear explanation of what corruption is, says Ilie Rotaru.

The lawyer reiterated his intention to run as an independent candidate in the snap parliamentary elections set for October 20. Ilie Rotaru will run in electoral district no. 50, west of Moldova. In this respect, his initiative group was registered, while the process of collecting signatures is ongoing. Ilie Rotaru added that he filed a complaint with the CEC, alleging discrimination, because male candidates must collect at least 500 signatures from supporters, twice as many signatures as female candidates.

In other news, Ilie Rotaru said that, at the beginning of July, he received, as well as the government and other defendants, a notification from the ECHR which allows them to negotiate a reconciliation on the issue regarding the shares of the "Geminii" trading company, until September 13th. The lawyer claims that, although two months have passed, he has no response from the government agent.
