The leader of the Shor Party Ilan Shor said he was practically deprived of the right to take part in electoral events. He asks the Chisinau City Appeals Court to annul the arrest warrant issued in his name as this is illegal and to offer him the possibility of campaigning for the July 11 snap parliamentary elections. The request was made after the court decided to put off the hearing set for July 7 until July 9, which is the last day of the election campaign, IPN reports.

In a video published on his Facebook page, Ilan Shor says he insists on the annulment of the arrest warrant as he also wants to appear in court and at the Prosecutor’s Office to make statements in the bank fraud case and to be able, in the name of shareholders, to start negotiations for redeeming the portfolio of the liquidated banks and for compensating the damage. In 2015, he was allowed to conduct his election campaign, being released from house arrest.

Ilan Shor called on the judges to review their decision and to hold the hearing on July 7, as it was initially agreed. He noted the actions of the Chisinau City Appeals Court cast doubt on the correctness of the upcoming elections and their outcome.

In June 2017, Ilan Shor a as sentenced to seven years and a half in jail for causing considerable damage to the state by swindle and abuse of power. The sentence was challenged. In June 2019, Ilan Shor disappeared from the public sphere and the prosecutors instituted criminal proceedings against him for illegally fleeing the country. On August 15, 2019, Ilan Shor was deprived of parliamentary immunity. His case continues to be tried in the Appeals Court.

Ilan Shor said he is ready to return the sum of money that he allegedly stole within the bank fraud and to then claim it from the real beneficiaries of the fraud.
