The chairman of the Inquiry Committee for the analysis of the organization and conduct of privatization and concession of public property, Igor Munteanu, claims that there are reasons to cancel the Chisinau Airport concession contract.
“There were serious violations of the concession process. The contest was closed”, said Igor Munteanu, pointing out that AVIA Invest had no right to participate in the competition. The company was accepted into the contest without being on the government's list.
"The Inquiry Committee considers that the only legal remedy for this concession, which involved serious national law violations, is for the parties to return to their initial position, while the airport must return without delay to state management", said Igor Munteanu.
The chairman added that the Prosecutor's Office will be notified to take all the necessary constrainment or preventive measures. "Chisinau Airport is the property of the state and any violation of property rights must be sanctioned by law", said Igor Munteanu.
The chairman said that the committee appealed the government to file a cancellation request for the concession contract to the courts. Additionally, Igor Munteanu said that it is necessary for the government to freeze AVIA Invest shares and concessioned movable and immovable property.
