The acting president of the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) Igor Grosu said it is crucial that the snap parliamentary elections of July 11 be free and fair. It is also essential that the voice of each citizen be expressed freely, while Parliament should become representative and clean. That’s why PAS launches a correct and clean campaign so as to ensure fair elections and the citizen’s right to elect freely and be informed, IPN reports.
In a news conference, the PAS leader said that four things are important for ensuring free and fair elections – a correct campaign without attacks, false information, denigration and acts of corruption; the institutions should make sure that they hamper and penalize those who break the electoral rules; all the citizens should enjoy the right to vote that is stipulated in the Constitution, and the functionaries of institutions should treat the law and the citizens with respect and should not obey orders that can come from election contenders.
According to Igor Grosu, the enemies of PAS are the thieves and groups that support corrupt personages, including from political parties. “Our fight is against those who impoverished this country during tens of years. The PAS will not attack parties with similar views because the people are tired of quarrels and arguments. It pledges to fight correctly and honestly. We condemn the dirty attacks, denigration, disinformation, distribution of fake news, damaging of electoral materials of contenders. Such things are used by those who are craven and weak and who are afraid of the citizens’ vote,” said the party’s leader.
PAS MP Sergiu Litvinenco said that to have free and fair elections, all the election runners should enjoy legal financing. The people no longer want thrives in power. The citizens should be more vigilant as the parties financed obscurely continue to distribute parcels with food. The law enforcement bodies should examine such violations.
The MP noted that pressure is being exerted on some of the members of the Central Election Commission. “We know that representatives of the criminal group Dodon-Plahotniuc-Shor the previous days have made offers and exerted pressure on CEC members so as to try and paralyze the activity of the CEC,” stated Sergiu Litvinenco.
Seven parties filed documents for being registered as election contenders to the CEC until May 18. The draw held on May 14 decided the PAS will be under No. 5 on the ballot.
