Former President Igor Dodon, who was detained on Tuesday and was then placed under house arrest, said that what the government can yet do is to scare the people and to commit other abuses and exert other pressure through the controlled legal system. But this cannot last long, according to him, as the cases fabricated by their order are sterile and society’s dissatisfaction with the chaos, high prices and poverty grow daily, IPN reports.

“I want to urge you to stay firmly on positions from now on as the pressure of the regime can grow, including on the Party of Socialists, including against other opposition forces. But we will resist as we are stronger and more people in Moldova realize that justice is on our side. More people realize that we live non-good times that should be stopped so that we all return to normality” stated the politician.

Igor Dodon assured that the final political victory will be mandatorily scored by the opposition. If someone still doubted this a week ago, the events of the last three days showed that the ruling party is weak and is in agony. “Some of the dictatorships fall because of their own foolishness. This is also the case of the yellow dictatorship established by Maia Sandu and the PAS government. They will also fall because of their own foolishness. And more people realize this already,” said Igor Dodon.

The criminal case featuring the ex-President of the Republic of Moldova was started over passive corruption, acceptance of the financing of the political party by a criminal group, treason and unjust enrichment. Igor Dodon pleads not guilty, saying that this case is political in character. He was placed under house arrest for 30 days on Thursday.
