President Igor Dodon believes that the moment of the declaration of independence, 28 years ago, was an exceptional point in history. It was an occasion that offered us the opportunity to build our country, economy, society and future with our own hands. "Over the course of the last 28 years, we have been through many difficulties and trials, but at the same time, our society and the political class have grown up. Today, we are more prepared than ever for democracy, for progress and for the future”, says the head of state.

"I personally, as a citizen of this country, as President of the Republic of Moldova, highly appreciate the mission of our generation - to do the best for Moldova, to write a new page in the history of our country, a page that will make ourselves, our children and our grandchildren proud. It is our duty to build a state where people want to live, learn, work and give birth to children”, the president said in a message delivered in regard to Independence Day.

Igor Dodon says that, since the declaration of independence, the Moldovan society has undergone important transformations, which have changed everyone's life. Over the course of the years, we experienced sorrow and joy. "In the short recent history of the Republic of Moldova, we had everything, both good and bad. Many of us have witnessed this history and understand that there is still much work to be done and much to be built in our country, so that it meets our hopes and expectations. It is important that today we be inspired by a common project, a political understanding, a vision of the future which motivates us and gives us the power to believe that good things are just starting to happen to Moldova”, the president said.

The head of state believes that there is sufficient human and intellectual potential in order to become a modern state. "If we continue to be daring and to express political maturity, if we show solidarity and mean well, then we will be able to achieve the greatest goals for the country and to pass on a sustainable and prosperous Moldova to the next generations", stresses the head of state.

"My request to each of you is: don't give up hope, don't give up on your own country, don't stop living, working and dreaming about a better future in Moldova and for Moldova", says Igor Dodon.

Note: On the eve of the 28th anniversary of Independence Day, the IPN news agency has also interviewed Prime Minister Maia Sandu, Parliament Speaker, Zinaida Greaceanîi, and the Interim President of the Democratic Party, former Prime Minister Pavel Filip.
