The chairman of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon accuses the leaders of the ruling parties of involvement in the theft committed at Banca de Economii (BEM). The statement was made in the talk show “Politics” on TV 7 channel, IPN reports.
According to the Socialist leader, it would have been impossible to commit such a swindle without the involvement of the senior administration. Vlad Filat and Vlad Plahotniuc, who have struggled for spheres of influence in the economy for many years, cannot be believed when they say that they didn’t know what is going on. Former Premier Iurie Leanca also knew when he signed the secret ordinance concerning the loan from the National Bank for covering the deficit at the BEM.
Igor Dodon also said that as a result of the fluctuations on the currency market, Banca de Economii and Banca Sociala gained over half a billion lei. “It’s not excluded that this swindle was planned also in order to gain money from the difference in the exchange rates. This money, whose trace is lost in an offshore area, could return to the country. This would be the happiest end, but this end also contains an element of offence. A loan of 1 billion dollars was taken out at the interest rate of 0.1%. The leu has depreciated. Somebody gained a lot of money from the difference in the exchange rates, while the country’s population became even poorer,” stated the Socialist leader.
Dodon noted that those who committed the theft at the BEM will not be identified now. “Until the country is managed by the alliance of the PLDM, PDM and PCRM, it will be impossible to elucidate this case. However, such crimes do not have statute of limitations and sooner or later those to blame will have to answer for what they did,” he said.
