Igor Dodon starts election campaign, presents platform based on seven pillars

Incumbent President Igor Dodon, who runs independently in the president elections, started his election campaign on October 2. He said the Republic of Moldova needs a balanced and responsible policy and a manager who would take care of the people. The event was held on the building site of a road and involved members of the Party of Socialists, MPs, ministers and the Bashkan of Gagauzia Irina Vlah, IPN reports.

“Representatives of all the social categories are present at this event, including doctors, teachers, persons from culture and sport, farmers and financial experts. This team, together with Mister Dodon, will implement a platform during the next four years as we have a common ambition – to build the Republic of Moldova, to offer the people decent living conditions. We are firmly convinced that Mister Dodon is the most suitable candidate for heading the Republic of Moldova during the next four years,” stated Socialist MP Vlad Batrîncea.

Igor Dodon said the country goes through a difficult period and his four-year term in office was full of challenges. Last year they managed to remove an oligarchic regime, while this year witnesses unprecedented crises, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the drought, the economic crisis. “Despite these difficulties, we have succeeded in managing the situation in the Republic of Moldova,” noted Igor Dodon, adding that the same approaches should be made in the future.

Igor Dodon’s electoral platform is based on seven pillars. The first pillar is the care for the people and covers the social, health and education sectors. The second pillar is entitled “Comfortable city and modern villages”. The candidate promises to continue the road repair programs, the water supply and sewerage building and gasification programs. The third pillar refers to sustainable economy, while the fourth to the defense and strengthening of statehood, including the country’s reintegration. The fifth pillar refers to the domestic policy and includes the constitutional reform, reduction in the number of MPs and banning of party switching. The sixth pillar envisions a balanced foreign policy, while the seventh pillar the keeping of the Christian and traditional values.

“I’m firmly convinced that we will succeed together, for our people, our country, for our children” stated Igor Dodon.

Attending the event, the leader of the PSRM Zinaida Grechanyi said Igor Dodon is a trustworthy friend, am excellent colleague and a professional leader, a real family man, a caring father and a wonderful husband. “Owing to his professional qualities and leadership skills, our President always managed to create efficient teams, attracting persons who share the same ideas and bringing together many others,” noted the politician.

The Governor of Gagauzia Irina Vlah said everyone wants stability and a prosperous country. “Now more than ever, Moldova needs a leader with a professional team, with development programs so that we overcome the crisis. The Republic of Moldova has such a leader. Our candidate Igor Dodon is not afraid to assume responsibility for the future of our country,” she stated.

The campaign prior to the presidential elections of November 1 began on October 2.
