President Igor Dodon assures that he does not become involved in justice and in the work of the prosecutor general. He advised those who say that the legal system is subdued to remember what happened a year ago, when the former leader of the PDM Vladimir Plahotniuc was in power, IPN reports.

“Remember what happened last year. Until last June, all the judges took no decision until they received instructions from the PD’s office located on Armeană St as to how they should act. Such decisions as who to give the car or the house in a divorce started to also be taken at the PD. The judges know this. Do you remember what happened at the Prosecutor’s Office until last year? How many businesspeople were afraid to talk over the phone?” Igor Dodon stated in the program “President Responds”.

According to him, the businesspeople were abusively dispossessed of businesses and criminal cases were fabricated in them. Since Alexandr Stoianoglo took over as Prosecutor General last November, no businessman remained without the business.

As regards the possibility of extraditing the former leader of the PDM, Igor Dodon said the prosecution bodies are active and took a number of steps in this regard. “For us, this is a very clear objective as those who fled the country should be brought back so that they are held accountable,” he stated.

President Dodon also commented on the statement of Lucian Rodac, the lawyer for Vladimir Plahotniuc, who said that the criminal case against his client is political in character and was started by order of those who are now in power. Igor Dodon said this is not a political case. “This is one of the biggest tragedies in the history of the Republic of Moldova – the bank fraud. This should be investigated till the end so as to prove who was involved and to hold them accountable, without any political interference. I think this will happen,” stated the official.
