The peacekeeping operation on the Nistru is conducted in a highly professional way and fulfills the tasks defined in the agreement on the principles of peaceful settlement of the armed conflict in the Nistrean region of the Republic of Moldova that was signed by Moldova and Russia in 1992, President Igor Dodon said after a visit to the independent infantry company of the Peacekeeping Forces of the Republic of Moldova in Varnita, Anenii Noi, on August 24, IPN reports.
In a message on a social networking site, the President asks if the Government and the parliamentary alliance are ready to unilaterally annul this agreement and to assume responsibility for the destabilization of the situation in the region and the return to the situation that existed before the signing of the accord.
Igor Dodon expressed his conviction that the agreement of 1992 should be further enacted in accordance with its provisions, while the peacekeeping mission in the existent format should continue work. “Nobody has the right to hamper the programed rotation of peacekeepers and the fulfillment of their task to keep peace in the region,” wrote the President.
Last week, Igor Dodon paid a visit to the Bulboaca shooting range, the Decebal aviation basis in Marculesti and the armament and military property basis in Floresti.
