The Socialist leader Igor Dodon said the necessity of declaring the state of emergency is not dictated by the introduction of new restrictions and is aimed at offering more powers to the outgoing Government so that it can take decisions to support the population and to plan additional costs, IPN reports.

In a new edition of his online program, the president of the PSRM said the interim Government cannot hasten the actions to purchase vaccines, cannot propose initiatives to help the people and business entities.

Commenting on the acting prime minister’s assertion that some of the politicians use the state of emergency for political purposes, Igor Dodon said it is hard to interpret the statements made by Aureliu Ciocoi, who was empowered to take decisions to help the people.

As regards the decision that is to be taken by the Constitutional Court on April 15 on the President’s request to ascertain the circumstances for dissolving Parliament, Igor Dodon said the Socialists are ready for snap elections, but consider that these should not be held in times of a pandemic. If most of the CC judges follow the path of Plahotniuc, snap elections will be most probably held in autumn. If reason and the position of the Council of Europe and the Venice Commission prevail, snap elections will not take place.

According to him, if snap parliamentary elections are held, the Republic of Moldova will not benefit from foreign financial resources. If a Government is installed in the nearest future, foreign assistance programs will appear rather swiftly.
