“Mister Candu should indeed apologize, a lot and repeatedly, but not to foreign governments, but to the own people for the disappointment, the social problems and the illegalities committed by the Democratic governments during the last few years,” President Igor Dodon said, commenting on the gesture of Speaker Andrian Candu, who apologized to Romania for the harsh statements made by President Dodon in the recent past in a trilateral meeting with the president of the Chamber of Deputies and the president of the Senate of Romania, IPN reports.

“As to the relations with Romania, our people are related, but we each have our own history and country. I have never been and will not be anti-Romania, but I will condemn unionism and will plead for protecting the statehood of the Republic of Moldova,” President Dodon wrote on his Facebook page.

Andrian Candu paid a working visit to Romania where he took part in the Aspen Energy Summit that is staged annually by the Aspen Institute Romania. While in Bucharest, he had a trilateral meeting with Nicolae-Liviu Dragnea and Calin Popescu Tariceanu.
