Igor Dodon makes new accusations against Dorin Chirtoaca

The PCRM’s candidate for mayor of Chisinau Igor Dodon announced he will lodge an application with the Prosecutor General’s Office and demand holding Dorin Chirtoaca accountable in a number of cases concerning corruption, appropriation of funds and illegal issuing of authorizations, Info-Prim Neo reports. In one of these cases, Igor Dodon accuses his Liberal opponent of illegalities in designing the waste burning plant. In a news conference on Thursday, he said that the main contract and the additional contract signed by the Chisinau City Hall and the Italian investor Engineering Consulting SRL provide for the import of used rubber, which is not allowed by law. Igor Dodon said the plot of 10 hectares on which the plant is to be built was registered with the Chisinau Local Cadastre Office in the name of the Italian group in the absence of a technical project, feasibility study for the investment of €190 million and a study of the impact on the environment. Dorin Chirtoaca is also accused of authorizing the construction of a car wash on Dimo St in Chisinau without the consent of the local owners of garages and in the security area of the heating pipes. According to Igor Dodon, despite the ban imposed by the Chisinau Municipal Council, Dorin Chirtoaca allowed building up a number of kiosks in the center of the city. The Communist candidate for mayor also accuses his opponent of committing illegalities when authorizing the construction of attic-like apartments. He said that the City Hall allowed building attic-like apartments at 12/1 Moscova Blvd. without the dwellers’ consent, while the works started to be executed with serious violations of the security norms. The Liberal Party’s candidate is also accused of issuing an authorization for building a shopping center near Lech Kaczyński St without the locals’ consent and by allowing cutting the trees there. In his application, Igor Dodon says that without having the mandatory documents, the City Hall spent about €800,000 on geotubes and approximately €80,000 on reagent at the Chisinau Wastewater Treatment Station. Last week, Igor Dodon sent a notification to Parliament, accusing Dorin Chirtoaca of corruption, embezzlement and traffic of influence. Dorin Chirtoaca denies the accusations.
