The Party of Socialists’ candidate in the presidential elections Igor Dodon said that what he said several months ago became true and his opponent Maia Sandu is actually the common candidate agreed in Washington by the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland and first deputy chairman of the Democratic Party Vlad Plahotniuc. Igor Dodon commented thus on his Facebook page on the decision of the Democratic candidate Marian Lupu to withdraw from the race for the presidency, IPN reports.
“They knew to convince Plahotniuc. The Americans have their own methods. They have their information, investigations and files, while Maia is a pawn in that agreement. From the very beginning, we have been involved in a theater orchestrated by the Americans, which is to ultimately lead to the union of all the pro-governmental and pro-European forces in an electoral platform. The moment of truth came and this game was revealed today,” Igor Dodon wrote in his message.
The politician said the Socialists will mobilize now even more. “We will inform the people and will urge them to protest. We will struggle to win by the first round until the oligarchs and the Americans didn’t put into operation all their machinery for manipulating and rigging the vote. For Plahotniuc, Maia and Lupu are alike and these are both his candidates. The people now understand this too,” he stated.
Marian Lupu earlier today announced that he decided to withdraw from the presidential race because Maia Sandu has, according to polls, bigger chances of beating Socialist candidate Igor Dodon in the runoff elections.
