President Igor Dodon promised he will withdraw the Moldovan nationality granted to the Basescu couple and will dismiss Anatol Salarul from the post of minister of defense. “I will see tomorrow who is the first – Basescu or Salaru,” Dodon stated in the talk show “In Depth” on PRO TV Chisinau channel, IPN reports.
As to Basescu, the Head of State said the ex-President of Romania and his wife were given Moldovan nationality illegally. “Most of the institutions had negative appraisals. This decree will be annulled by the New Year,” he stated.
In the program, Igor Dodon thanked the Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu for the request to dismiss Anatol Salaru from the post of minister of defense, made to the President. “I thank Mister Ghimpu for such an occasion. I encourage Mister Ghimpu to make similar requests concerning a number of ministers of this party as many have problems there. I promise Mister Ghimpu that all the ministers will be discharged the next day,” he said.
Igor Dodon also said that he will not renounce the phrase “Moldovan language”. “I respect the Constitution, where it is written that Moldovan is the official language of the Republic of Moldova. We will return to the Constitutional Court’s decision on the issue,” he stated.
The President noted that no other flags than the Moldovan one will be raised on the Presidential Building. “We are not members of the European Union and will not hoist the EU’s flag on the Presidential Building. We are yet members of the CIS and it will be fairer to raise the CIS flag. We will yet raise only the flag of the Republic of Moldova,” he said.
The press reported recently that the EU’s flag was removed from the Presidential Building and that the phrase “Romanian language” was replaced with “Moldovan language” on the institution’s website.
